CSA levels now included on Red Cross certifications

We are pleased to share that Canadian Red Cross First Aid participant-level certifications issued as of November 2, 2020, will include the corresponding Canadian Standards Association (CSA) level.

This allows certificate holders and employers/administrators to easily reference the equivalent CSA level, should this be specified for employment.

The following certifications (English and French) will include this wording:

  • Emergency First Aid – Meets CSA Standard Z1210-17 – Basic
  • Standard First Aid – Meets CSA Standard Z1210-17 – Basic (Red Cross is currently applying to WorkSafeBC to have SFA meet Intermediate First Aid equivalency in BC)
  • Advanced First Aid – Meets CSA Standard Z1210-17 – Advanced

As additional provinces begin to adopt the CSA standard, this practice will ensure our certifications meet the needs of all jurisdictions in Canada.

While the standard is voluntary, provincial/territorial legislation can choose whether to adopt the standard. The Canadian Red Cross First Aid Program meets the CSA National Standard for Workplace First Aid Curriculum. This means that Canadian Red Cross will not need to amend our program to meet the requirements of any province choosing to adopt the standard.

Benefits of moving to Red Cross EFA and SFA

  • Certification is transferable between provinces and recognized nationally for workplace requirements.
  • Anyone with EFA or SFA certification (including Blended Learning) is now recognized as equivalent to OFA Level 1.
  • Certification includes CPR-C (Child, Infant & Adult) training at no extra cost… Not CPR Adult only.

We utilize as many learning techniques as possible to help participants learn the acquired skills and keep interest. Past participants have said:  "the best instructor I ever had" and  "wow, this course was actually fun, and I learned something new" . We are portable therefore serve the entire Okanagan Valley including but not limited to: Osoyoos, Oliver, Keremeos, Okanagan Falls, Kaleden, Penticton, and Summerland. As well, we are able to travel anywhere in the province if needed.

Thank-you for choosing Okanagan Priority One Trauma!! We appreciate your business, and look forward to serving you more in the years to come!
